- This research aims to: (1) Analyze the impact of coal mining in the economy of South Kalimantan Province (2) Analyze the impact of the loss of coal mining on the economy of South Kalimantan (3) Analyze the impact of economy if there are additional investment to coal mining industries in South Kalimantan. This research uses Input Output approach, the input output tables has been aggregate into a matrix of 27 x 27 sectors. The magnitude multiplier in each sector was calculated using the multiplier analysis. Linkages between sectors of the economy were identified using linkage analysis. Then simulate impact of the loss of coal mining to the economy analyzed using Hypothetical Extraction Method (HEM). Further simulations additional impacts of coal mining investment in the economy analyzed by investment multiplier. The results showed that coal mining does not have big impact to the development of other economic sectors. It�s come because coal is a commodity export oriented and does not provide big value added for the region. If the government is able to reduce coal export and prioritize coal for domestic demand, it would be able to generate greater value added for regional economy of South Kalimantan.
