- Green tea contains epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which can be used as an antiinflammation. Development of the formulation with the addition of enhancer and emulsifier is needed to improve its effectivity. The addition of enhancer will increase its penetration into the skin and the emulsifier will increase the stability of the cream. Aim of this study is to know the optimum composition of enhancer propylene glycol (PG), oleic acid (OA) and volatile oil of Curcuma xanthorrhiza (VO) by the Simplex Lattice Design method and optimum composition of the emulsifier Tween 80 and Span 80 by the Factorial Design method. This study was performed by using 7 enhancer composition of OA, PG and VO was 100-0-0, 0-100-0, 0-0-100, 50-50-0, 0-50-50, 50-0-50, 33-33-33. Data transport of EGCG were analyzed with WinSAAM and Design Expert to get the optimum composition of the enhancer. After that ethyl acetate fraction of green tea extract and optimum enhancer was formulated in a cream which contained variation composition of emulsifier. The composition of emulsifier Tween 80 and Span 80 are 1-1, 1-10, 10-1 and 10-10. Data of Viscosity, t90 and the volume separation of cream was evaluated by Design Expert to obtain the optimum composition of the emulsifier. Furthermore optimum cream (containing optimum composition of enhancer and emulsifier) were evaluated transport of EGCG by in vitro and antiinflammation activity by in vivo. The difference between groups were analysed t test with 95% level confidence. The results showed that the composition of a mixture of 30.20 OA
