  • Korean wave, also known as hallyu became phenomenon throughout the world in last decade. It didnâ��t stop in drama or movie only, but comes with second wave through its music industry, Korean Pop Music (K-Pop). Soon, K-Pop gained popularity and became global phenomenon. As a part of international community, Indonesia also felt the impacts of K-Pop. Diversity society of Indonesia is not a problem for K-Pop to gain its popularity there, beside Indonesian also recognized as adaptive society for foreign culture. South Korea used this situation to implement its soft power in order to reach its national interests, especially in economy sector. While the brand awareness of South Korea increased in Indonesian through K-Pop, South Koreaâ��s companies use it as a mean to increase their productâ��s volume. K-Popâ��s roles are broadening by taking part in military cooperation among countries. The situation proved significant role of soft power on high politic matters. International support, in this case Indonesia, is needed by South Korea to face its dynamic international relations, especially in East Asia region. As conclusion, public diplomacy held by South Korea in Indonesia considered succeeds.
