  • The study aims to engineer biosulpho fertilizer made of phosphate rock (PR) and elemental sulfur (So) enriched with P-solubilizing fungus (PSF) Aspergillus niger and S-oxidizing fungus (SOF) Penicillium nalgiovensis. The research consist three steps i.e. (1) laboratory experiments to find out best combinations of PR, So, organic matter (OM), PSF and SOF, (2) and best formula of biosulpho giving high dissolved-P and S, and (3) greenhouse experiment to examines the effectiveness of biosulpho formulas in providing P and S for plants. The basic ingredients of biosulpho were PR from Christmas Island, So from USA, tapioca solid waste, rice bran, tapioca flour, and spores of A.niger and P. nalgiovensis. The soil used was Ultisol and Alfisol (as acid soil), Entisol (neutral) and Vertisol (alkaline), with maize as plant indicators. Number of A.niger and P.nalgiovensis determined by plate count method with Pikovskaya and Czapek-dox media respectively. Available-P determined by molibdovanadate method while water-soluble S extracted with Morgan Wolf for acid and neutral, and HClO4-HNO3 for alkaline soil. The results show that A. niger and P. nalgiovensis incorporated in biosulpho fertilizer were survive and able to improve dissolved-P and S. Biosulpho fertilizer formulas significantly influence on available-P in Ultisols, Entisols and Vertisols, available-S in Ultisols and Entisols, maize P-uptake in Ultisols and S-uptake in Ultisols and Entisols. Biosulpho formula B60P11 provide higher corn yield than SP-36 treatment on Entisols and Vertisols and so do formula B60P31 on Alfisols.
