- The title of this thesis is The Resistance of Biksu in Myanmar : Saffron Revolution 2007. This study is about the involvement of Biksu in political process in Myanmar. Myanmar Government is very authoritative and oppressive to their people. Many people live in poverty and under great pressure from their government. It had been happened since a long time and many demonstrations and movements had been occurred to against this government. One of the biggest demonstration happened in 2007, it is called Saffron Revolution 2007. This demonstration became an interesting subject to be observed because it was led by the leaders of the Buddhist Religion, named Biksu. The leaders of any religion for quite long believed to be the one who�s responsible to spread religion only, in this circumstances getting involved in doing social movement in order to protest and change the political and social life in one of the most oppressive country in the world. This study uses qualitative research, by observing the objects which are human behavior and social process. The writing methodology is descriptive writing, it purposes to explain more detail about one phenomena and having a big picture of the qualitative data. These data are analyzed by using the social movement concepts and theories. The result of this study explains about some reason of the involvement of the Biksu. These factors are economic factor, the popularity of Biksu in Myanmar�s society, and international�s supports. And another factor that also has the important role in this social movement is All Burma Monks Alliance. This organization has role in mobilizing people to join the demonstration in Saffron Revolution 2007.
