- Accident rate is a key indicator of traffic safety. The causes of accidents are human factors, vehicle damages, road, and environment. This research is conduct in national collector road of Gunung Kidul Regency. This research�s aims are to know the pavement condition and traffic accidents at this region, to analyze the relationship between pavement condition and traffic accidents frequencies, and to analyze accident conditions which have the closest relation with pavement condition from variations of accident models. Pavement condition variables are Surface Distress Index (SDI) and International Roughness Index (IRI). This variables were used as independent variables. Accidents variables are divided by time, weather, victims, type of accidents and accident rates. Accident rates were counted by Accident rate permiles formula. The analysis was conduct by Negative Binomial Regression in SPSS 19.0. Pavement condition, which is represented by the SDI value, showed that 99% road segments are in a good condition
