- Indonesian Football cannot be separated from the social and political side, especially with nationalism. Football can be used to emerge nationalism in order to establish national character building. After Indonesia's independence, and the end of the revolution era, Indonesian struggling is not use weapon anymore, but by diplomacy to gain recognition of sovereignty and introduce the name of Indonesia in the international world order. One attempt did by PSSI through football. The primary issue in this research are discourse and state efforts to create football as tool to form nationalism in the Sukarno era (1950-1965), so that the name of Indonesia recognizable in international order. Sources that used in this research are archives were taken from National Archive of Indonesian Republic as well as media sources about football and nationalism, both reporting in the same time (1950-1965) and contemporary. Books related to football and nationalism is also used. Through this research conclude that Indonesian football were mix with politics of nationalism in Sukarno era. Even so nationalism that formed by football was temporarily, however achievement from football can be used as inspiration and national pride for citizen. Finally, football was a tool of national struggling as a realization of nationalism.
