  • REDD+ is the development of the global economy for the welfare of society with low carbon emissions. In other words, REDD+ is a global effort to integrate the economic, environmental, and social welfare within a sustainable framework. This study examines how local participation in line with the stipulation of the Central Kalimantan as province of REDD+ demonstrations activities be provided that will have successfully completed the issue of climate change. Data obtained by participant observation and in-depth interviews with informants. The data analysis was done since the beginning of the study to the writing stage. Analysis of the data analyzed in depth and tracked, and analyzed including the possibilities of a relationship existing categories. From the research shows that, the implementation of the REDD+ program in communities level is a top-down planning, implementing programs which make a plan and announce it, the meeting called for the purpose of providing information, and expects full approval to the plan. Researchers here is not to evaluate the program, but how REDD+ processes and institutions in Mantangai Hulu that influence participation. The assumption, if all is good, then REDD+ program will be successful. REDD+ under study is the participation of local communities, in any REDD+ pilot program conducted by KFCP (Kalimantan Forest and Climate Parthnership). It was found that the community is involved as a laborer and paid in every activity and the presence of money in each meeting attended. However, because people can still be mobilized by KFCP, the REDD+ program donors still plan to continue the project.
