  • The implementation of enterprise risk managment (ERM) has become one of strategic issues seriously discussed among the corporate boards and executives of contemporary modern companies. In that regards, the management of PT Reasuransi Nasional Indonesia intended to adopt the COSO Enterprise Risk Management Integrated Framework (COSO 2004). Within this framework, an entity is expected to make paradigm shift of managing risk, from that of silo or partial approach to a more integrative approach where all employees are involved in the process. The invovelment would consist of participation in the decision making process as well as the willingness to cooperate. At the core of this ERM implementation is the utilization of Control Self-Assessment (CSA) both as a process and a method to engage management and employees in identifying, analysing and mitigating risks. This paradigm shift is inline with the development in the field of organizational change and development (OCD) where contemporary organization is focusing itself more on employee involvement/EI or participative management. Hence, there seems to be resemblence between the ERM paradigm with the OCD, especially in the necessaty of having the employee involvement in the process of imrpoving organizational performances. In the context of ERM implementation, CSA emerges as one of recomended tools to leverage the employee involvement. The question is how far is the effect of CSA towards the employee involvement/EI, especially in the areas of participation in decision making and willingness to cooperate? This study, using quasi experimental method (through an empirical study at PT Reasuransi Nasional Indonesia) is trying to examine and answer the question.
