- Policy in regional economic development issues faced on two things that are often contradictory, that is how economies grow rapidly on one side and know how reducing inequality between the regions on the other side. Another issue is the limited budget that is owned by the government, has the consequence that the budget can be allocated appropriately to achieve the expected economic growth, which could reduce unemployment and poverty as well as being able to effectively spur the growth of the surrounding area. If such growth poles location can be determined in a region and its characteristics, it can be a solution to the above problems. This study aimed to identify the location of growth poles by counties in Sulawesi Economic Corridor (EC) and its characteristics accompanying the effect of growth spillover, spatial patterns of growth, specialization index and changes in the economic structure of the region. Intake location on Sulawesi EC based on the condition that the Sulawesi EC has a high growth rate compared to other EC, but still lags behind in terms of share and there intrakoridor interregional inequality in the corridor. This study begins by identifying growth poles of all counties in Sulawesi EC consists of 73 counties and cities. Spatial growth patterns were analyzed using analysis of spatial statistic Moran's I and G. Furthermore, the spillover effects of of growth were analyzed by using the Capello�s formula (2009). To analyze the changes in the economic structure of the region used index of spesialitazion Krugman Index and the index of structural transformation of the labor and share of value added. Finally, drafted by discrimant function these characteristics to classify areas based growth poles counties and other.
