- This study aims to determine causes of failure women candidates in the local parliament Seram Bagian Timur district on the 2009 legislative elections and identify causes factors obstacle why women candidates did not selected in the SBT district. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Study located in the SBT District. Subjects who requested the study as informants are 15 the female candidates from different political parties, political party official sterrace Golkar Party, Democrats, PDIP, and PAN. Date were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out following the interactive analysis model consisting of stages of data collection, data reduction, presentation, and description conclusions. The results showed, the first, quality of woman candidates viewed from the level of education in general, still less the only high school graduate/equivalent, organizational experience, and profession or occupation shows that the quality is far from ideal. Second, the number of woman candidate selected candidates failed in the 2009 legislative election caused by many factors such as lack of campaign funds, candidates did not campaign by women, people's perceptions about women candidates and the importance of maintaining ties of kinship in the overthrow of political choice, another obstacle faced is the lack of access to the center of political decision-making information and lack of access to prospective voters due to geographical conditions and lack of infrastructure. The conclusion of this study is the absence of any women candidates elected in the 2009 legislative elections in SBT due to the quality of female candidates is far from ideal, lack of campaign funds, did not campaign by women candidates, the public perception of women candidates, lack of access to the electoral district due to lack of infrastructure, and recruitment procces doesn�t based on mechanism.
