  • Poetry as a result of human creation in literature has different languages characterized with usual language generally. The arbitrary as nature of language often leads to be ambiguous meaning because the language in the poem is not the same like usual language. The interesting in poetryâs Ilya AbÅ« Madhi, as mahjar poet, the AbÅ« Madhiâs poetry was not escape from the influence of two acculturation between Western and Eastern cultures that influenced AbÅ« Madhiâs poetry style that has dialogue style by two characters and the use of imagery of the universe. Generally, the style of the poem by using parables only expressed imagination personally. So, the AbÅ« Madhiâs poems are different that not just talked about imagination, but talk about social reality either moral or social conditions that occured at that time. The purpose of this study is finding significance meaning in AbÅ« MÄdhÄ«âs anthology al-JadÄwil. Through Riffaterre semiotic approach, this study interpret five poems in the aljadÄwil anthology. They are al-chajar al-shaghÄ«r (small tone), al-masÄ (evening), al-yatÄ«m (orphan), ana (me) and MatÄ yadzkuru al-wathan an-Nuwam?(when asleep remembers his country). The data collection is done by observating text, determining source data, reading and translating. Data analysis done by (1) heuristic reading, (2) hermeneutic reading, (3) searching variant, model and matrix (4) finding potential hipogram, and (5) searching actual hipogram. The results of this research shows that the poem entitled al-Chajar as-ShaghÄ«r has a desire to change matrix with the actual hipogram Falsafat al-ChayÄt in second part, the poem entitled al-Masa has optimism matrix with actual hipogram Falsafat al-ChayÄt in first part, the poem of al-YatÄ«m has poverty matrix with the actual hipogram of the Koran, the poem entitled AnÄ has freedom matrix by al- Qur'an (2):256 hipogram and the poem titled MatÄ Yadzkuru alwathan an-Nuwam? has misery matrix by Torah as actual hipogram. Fifth matrix of five poems in the anthology al-JadÄwil describes the deterioration caused by the person's condition when leaving native country to another country due to the war because of political action. The dominance matrix can be drawn at one common thread that five poems in the anthology al-JadÄwil have exile themes.
