- Tanjung city located in the tip of South Kalimantan province. The city grew into one of the important cities in the interior of Borneo along with the exploitation of massive natural resources. Large-scale industries such as mining and plantations in and around of Tanjung city actualization as besieged from all directions. This siege influence on the development and existence of Tanjung city. This study aimed to examine the influence of both spatially and aspasial large-scale industries, particularly mining and plantations around of Tanjung city and the development of the physical existence of the city in the period 1990-2010. This is a deductive research, using secondary data and qualitative interviews were analyzed descriptively with variable spatial demography, the economy, the region woke reinforced and the policy. Based on the analysis found that: (1) large-scale extractive industries were affect the development of the city which contributed to the increase of population and economic growth
