- Using a fixed orthodontics appliances may change volume of the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF). Roth and Straight Wire Low Friction (SWLF) are the orthodontics treatment techniques which have differences of the bracket and archwire design and resulting different forces as well. The aim of this study was to investigate the different impact of Roth technique and SWLF technique to volume of the GCF on children at alignment phase of orthodontic treatment. Twenty girls of the subject have aged 11 � 14 years old who getting fixed orthodontics appliances treatment at Klinik KGA RSGM Prof. Soedomo Yogyakarta. Ten girls with Roth technique and others in SWLF technique which have completed the inclusion criterias. The GCF was taken with a filter papper strip that inserted into gingival sulcus on labial side of maxillary central incisivus about 1 minute then it was dropped by ninhydrin solusion 2%. The volume of GCF was measured by travelling microscope 0,01 mm scale. The measurement was performed on day before treatment, 1st, 5th, 10th and 15th. The two way Repeated Anova is used in statistical analysis of this study. The mean and standart deviation of GCF volume at Roth group before treatment is (0,10 ± 0,07), on 1st day is (0,19 ± 0,09), on 5th day is (0,31 ± 0,09), on 10th day is (0,21 ± 0,07), on 15th day is ( 0,13 ± 0,05 ), while at SWLF group before treatment is (0,02 ± 0,01), on 1st day is (0,09 ± 0,05), on 5th day is (0,13 ± 0,04), on 10th day is (0,09 ± 0,05), on 15th day is (0,05 ± 0,04). Statistical analysis two way Repeated Anova showed that there are significant differences of the GCF volume on both groups based on time (F = 53,508
