- In the last five years there was a significant growth in the number of bus rapid transit (BRT) systems in certain cities in Indonesia. Managed by local governments, BRT systems aim to provide high quality transportation services and an affordable, even sustainable urban transport system. However, the BRT systems have some limitations in terms of technical, financial, and institutional aspects. This study investigated the dimensions and institutional aspects to evaluate the performances of Trans Jogja in Yogyakarta City, Trans Semarang in Semarang City and Batik Solo Trans in Surakarta City, Indonesia. The systems� characteristics, inputs, and outputs were scored and evaluated using descriptive qualitative analysis and comparative studies. The data were obtained from a review of the literature, interviews, and questionnaires. Additional questionnaires were administered to passengers to evaluate the service quality of the Trans Jogja BRT system
