PERBANDINGAN RETENSI ELASTOMER SILIKON ROOM TEMPERATURE VULCANIZING (RTV) 585 DAN 683 DENGAN BAHAN ADESIF SOFT SILIKON PADA PROTESA MAKSILOFASIAL EKSTRAORAL

  • Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) 585 and 683 elastomer silicone as an extra oral maxillofacial on soft silicone application as adhesive material. This study was aimed to compare RTV elastomer silicone 585 and 683 retention on application of soft silicone as an adhesive for extraoral maxillofacial prostheses. This study used 20 RTV 585 and 683 elastomer silicone block in 60x20x3mm dimension. Specimens were devided into 2 groups consisted of 10 blocks. First group was RTV 585 elastomer silicone while second group was RTV 683 elastomer silicone. Inner surface of human arms were cleaned using alcohol 70%, air dried, and adhesive application area was signed according to elastomer silicone block size. Soft silicone (Osto Bond-M.O.C. Canada) was applied onto the skin and elastomer silicone block and left air dried for 2 minutes. Adhesive surface on human skin and elastomer silicone block was contacted and pressed for 5 minutes. End part of elastomer silicone block was clasped and retention test was conducted using Universal Testing Machine until the block released from the skin, result data appeared on testing machine monitor.The data was analized with t-test. Study result showed there was significant difference between them both using t-test analysis (p < 0,05 ). The conclution was the elastomer silicone room temperature vulcanizing (RTV)-683 showed higher retention than RTV-585 on soft silicone as the extraoral maxillofacial prostheses adhesive material
