  • Todayâs prediction of the performance of a particular road network can be solved by the use of transportation software. One way to do it is by using either the traffic simulation or the software assessment. The aim of this research is to compare the use of two designated transportation software in order to investigate which one gives better output in the term of closeness to the real world. The study is located in a four-arm roundabout in Idrottsparken, Sweden and the software that will be compared are SUMO 0.14.0 and ARCADY 5 that specifically designed for micro simulation and assessing capacity and delay of roundabout, respectively. The data were collected during three days in the morning and afternoon in weekdays, which consist of: traffic flow composition and its turning movement, travel time, and queue. Data that will be used for comparison is queue data. Statistical test is used to compare data and linear regression is used to model the relationship between two variables by fitting a linear equation to observed data. The comparison between SUMO and ARCADY shows that the similarity of the results occurs in two arms: South and East arm in the morning. The statistical test result shows that none of these software produces queues similar to the field observation. Nevertheless, the linear regression shows that SUMO has higher coefficient of determination (R2) at the slope of the line compares to ARCADY. Therefore, it can be concluded that SUMO gives better result in the term of closeness to the reality.
