- The objectives of this research were to evaluate the performance of quality assurance and the role to improve competitive advantage in Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Mitra Usaha Rakyat. This research employed the case study in quality assurance Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Mitra Usaha Rakyat. The data used are primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained through interviews and observations. While secondary data are compiled from annual reports of go public bank in Indonesia, publications from Bank Indonesia and data from quality assurance. Two types of analysis tools consist of external and internal analysis. External analyses used in this research are strategic group analysis and key success factor. Meanwhile the internal analyses are resource-based view, value chain analysis, key performance indicators and SWOT. This research shows that the decision to open micro unit business is the right one. With the strength and resources, BTPN able to compete with other bank which total assets much more than BTPN. Moreover the research shows that quality assurance has been successfully fulfill the predefined KPI by management. However there are some weaknesses that should be rectified in order to exploit opportunities and anticipate threats. Furthermore examinations conducted by quality assurance help BTPN in implementing good corporate governance.
