- The purpose of this study was to evaluate the functional ability of competing strategies that have been implemented and identify alternative functional strategies should be used in the activities of freight forwarding and Stevedoring PT. Varuna Tirta Prakasya in the industry of Third Party Logistic (3PL). This study used data in the form of corporate financial statements 2009/2010, interviews and research results from Logistic Performance Index (LPI). This study used qualitative methods with SWOT, Porter's Five Forces and Value Chain as an analytical tool. The research looked at the primary and supporting activities to conclude the competitive ability of functional strategies and identification of alternative functional strategies.
