  • Background: About 70% of cataract surgery patients chose surgery under local anesthesia in Eye Hospital. These one Day Care Cataract surgeries were increasingly performed in an elderly population with multiple medical comordities. In effort to improve patient safety, prior to cataract surgery, patient should undergone several examination. The purpose of this study was to investigate the frequency and type of adverse medical events correlated with completeness presurgery examination. Methode : Analytical descriptive research was undertaken for 373 patients who undergone clear corneal phacoemulsification and extracapsular cataract extraction surgery. A research instrument: Presurgery examination protocol, ASA Classification and checklist. Result: In the study of patient s undergoing cataract surgery sin September 2010 â�� May 2011 in Eye Hospital has 10.7% overall Adverse Event, 6.8% systemic Adverse Event dan 4.8% eye AE. Incomplete presurgery examination was not related to an unexpected AE, but ther was a trend affecting the AE. Conclusion: Presurgery completeness examinations not related to an unexpected AE, but need further research to improve the protocol to be more effective, efficient and rational aspect without compromising patient safety.
