  • Water saturation is tbe ratio between the volume of Ouid in the rock pores. Water saturation is one of the important reservoir parameters to be known in the exploration or exploitation of oil and as. I h ave developed a n ew technique to estimate th e distribution of water satu ration va lues based on th e seismic wave atte nuation analysis, frequency and porosity from the equation of Bi ot-Tu rgut-Yamamoto-Sismanto. Th e resulting relationship was tested to esti mate water saturation using sy nth etic seismic data. Now, it is applied to th e reaJ data using th e ver1ical seismi c profilin g (VSP) data in Pa sir Cantan g well, West Ja va for some layers. The obtained va lu es of water saturation ha,•e not been ca librated to the known va lue of the well. This step needs to be done, so that the results that have been corrected can be performed to esti mat e th e a rea around the well Pasir Cantan g guided by seismic sect i on. Regardless of th e calibration facto r, the m ethod of the water sa turation estimation on VSP data can t ec hnically be well don e but still needs n ecessary calibration for th e accuracy.
