Daftar Isi:
- To determine the factors affecting and to predict the demand for beef in Central Java Province, time series of secondary data from 1991 to 2010, and from 2011 to 2018, respectively, were used for regression analysis. The demand for beef was found to be influenced (P < 0.01) altogether by the variables of population, income, the prices of beef, mutton, chicken meat, milkfish, eggs and rice. Partially, the variables affecting the demand for beef were population (P < 0.01), income, prices of mutton and milkfish (P < 0.05), prices of beef, chicken meat, eggs (P < 0.10), while prices of rice did not show any significant effect. The only factor affecting demand for beef negatively was price of beef. Beef turned to be in normal good and basic need categories with income elasticity of 0.222. Beef prices elasticity was -0.870. Mutton, chicken meat, milk fish and eggs were considered to be subtitute goods for beef with the elasticities of 0.592, 0.247, 0.405 and 0.404, respectively. It was predicted that beef demand in Central Java Province will be increasing at the rate of 6.24%/yr from the years of 2011 to 2018.
