  • Teachers are one of the important role for post-disaster recovery process because they will directly interact with childrens and parents. In addition, they are also required to keep tough in front of their students. Some of these demands become stressors for teachers. Therefore, teachers are expected to have good proactive coping skills as of they can carry out their duties well. One way that can be used to enhance the proactive coping skills of teachers is hope intervention. The participants were 14 teachers who victimized of cold lava in Sirahan and Cangkringan Village. Intervention gave to the teachers aimed to improved proactive coping skills of teachers in helping post-disaster recovery process of cold lava. The measurement used were Proactive coping Inventory (PCI) which has been modificated. The design used was the untreated control group design with dependent pretest and posttest with waiting list control group. The data analyzed with quantitative analysis, Mann Whitney and Wilcoxon, to examined differences between pretest and posttest results. Quantitative analyzed is also did to examined daily checklist data. In addition, qualitative analysis used to examined selfmonitoring, checklist, observation and follow-up results after intervention. The results showed there wasn't an increased in the ability of proactive coping teachers who victimized of cold lava in the experimental group after hope intervention compared with the control group.
