- The title of this research is Islam and Capitalism in Ayat-Ayat Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy: An Analysis of Gramci�s Hegemony. The background of this study is the growth of popular literature, including the popular literature that brings Islamic value. As a part of popular culture and as a work with Islamic society readers, Ayat-Ayat Cinta brings multiple diverse of value. This novel brings industry interest, capitalism. In the other side, this novel brings its reader society interest, Islam. The aim of this research is to know since where Ayat-Ayat Cinta brings capitalism values and accommodates Islamic society aspiration which brings Islamic values. Gramsci�s Hegemony theory is used to analyze this problem. From this research we know that AAC brings Islam ideology, capitalism, and feudalism. In Ayat-ayat Cinta, capitalism is the prior, weather Islam aspiration and feudal are still accommodate. Capitalism ideas are include in much more series of AAC
