- Nowadays there are many couples who undergo a long-distance marriage. They are �forced� to live in different cities or even continents, either for working or education reason. This condition will potentially lead to conflict between couples, causing the decline in subjective well-being due to marital disharmony and dissatisfaction, and at the end it will decline the quality of the marriage and put the family in harm. One of the solutions to overcome this problem is to improve the quality of communication between the couple. The purpose of this study is to see the effect of The Communication Book on the quality of communication and subjective well-being on wives who undergo a long-distance marriage with her husband. The subjects of this study consist of eight wives who are undergoing a long-distance marriage which is divided into two groups: control group and experimental group. This study uses untreated control group design with pre-test and post-test using several instruments as measurement tools such as the communication quality scale, The Day Reconstruction Method (DRM), self-monitoring, self-evaluation, and semi-structured interviews. Analysis of the data in this study use the analysis of Mann-Whitney T-test by calculating the gain score (change in value). The results of this study shows that the Communication Book does not improve significantly the quality of communication (z = -1169, p = 0243) and does not increase subjective well-being (z = -1155, p = 0248) for wives who undergo a long-distance marriage. The results qualitatively indicate that the book is functional as a medium of psychological education that develops and improves the knowledge about the quality of communication.
