- In the pyrolysis process, heating ramp rate and temperature are important parameters to be controlled, because they influence the quality of the products. To monitor the temperature of pyrolysis unit (furnace) with dimension 35cm � 20cm � 20cm, type K thermocouple (measurement range -200°C - 1300°C) is used. Heating element is controlled by TRIAC using AC voltage phase control method. The controller system is based on fuzzy logic with 4 input variables: E (error), CE (change of error), TRIAC trigger delay, and temperature, producing output variable in the form of TRIAC trigger delay change, in accordance with fuzzy rules. This system can control within the range 0°C until 700°C, and produce maximum heat ramp rate 9.9°C/min within range 100°C until 200°C and minimum heat ramp rate 4.4°C /min within range 600°C until 700°C/min. With descriptive statistic calculation, this system is able to control temperature with maximum range 8.9°C in setpoint 700°C and maximum standard of deviation 2.2 in setpoint 500°C.
