  • In year 2000 have happened a change enough basic on the state Islamic colleges in Indonesian, a number of the state Islamic institute have change status become a the State Islamic University. Leadership is a decisive element of organizational success. Particularly to changes in the strategic environment. The new leadership model that is very good and necessary in the 21st century is a strategic leadership. strategic leadership in universities is the leadership directed to the formulation of strategic advantage, oriented to the future, and always looking for good opportunities. Strategic leadership is actively played by a number of individuals and teams are able to act, thinking and strategic influence on the progress of the organization and able to increase the competitiveness advantage. Strategic leaders are responsible to actively develop the strength or personal capacity, in the face of environmental change are complex and ambiguous. Hope, optimism, and self efficacy are capacities that can be managed to increase the results. The study aims to examine the hypothesis that hope, optimism and selfefficacy could be predictor to strategic leadership. Data was collected using four scales made by researcher, that is, the scale of strategic leadership, the scale of hope, the scale of optimism, and the scale of self-efficacy. Subjects in this study are 71 strategic leaders from the top leaders, middle leaders, and under leaders a the State Islamic University in Bandung. Techniques of data analysis in this study are statistical techniques to test the hypothesis with multiple regression analysis model by using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)16.0 for windows. The results showed that hope, optimism, and self-efficacy could be predict simultaneously the strategic leadership of 60% at a significance level of p = 0.000 (p <0.001) with a value of F = 33.571, which means that the research hypothesis is proven and accepted. Hope (Î2 = 0.465, p = 0.000), and self-efficacy (Î2 = 0.265, p = 0.022) were better able to role rather than optimism (Î2 = 0.141, p = 0.205>0,05). Generality dimension, agency component, and pathway components more important role of strategic leadership than goal, magnitude, and strenght.
