Daftar Isi:
  • The presence of Penicillium in cocoa, coffee and dried cassava are dangerous for human health due to its ability in ochratoxin A production causing carcinogenic (cancer) and mutagenic (mutation). The objectives of this study were to isolate and identify Penicillium from cocoa beans, coffee beans and dried cassava in Yogyakarta by morfology and molecular level, as well as to observe the ability of Penicillium isolates in ochratoxin A production on Yeast Extract Sucrose Agar medium. Observations found Penicillium citrinum, Penicillium griseofulvum, Penicillium westlingii, Penicillium paneum and Penicillium meleagrinum var. viridiflavum from collected samples. This study obtained 13 isolates were able to produce OTA between 4.65 up to 25.26 Âμg / g media. Isolates of Y-PC-12, Y-PG- 4, Y-PG-9, and AnggPBB6-13 are not able to produce ochratoxin A.
