Daftar Isi:
  • Tooth movement in the Begg technique begins with the tipping force to retract the anterior teeth to the palate followed by movement of the root tip to the labial. After treatment of stage III Begg technique maxillary incisor tooth roots and move to the posterior edge of the incisors insisisal move because of the anterior root torque. The movement of root followed by secondary remodeling aimed to maintaine the relationship between the thickness of the bones and teeth to the alveolar bone to be relatively constant. Anterior tooth inclination changes affect changes in points A and B. After a phase of active treatment is required retention phase of treatment that aims to maintain the results obtained. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of changes in incisor inclination towards A and B points after treatment with Begg fixed appliance and three months after the retention phase. The study was carried out on 14 subject sefalograms with criteria: class I and II malocclusions treated with Begg technique, more than 4 mm overjet, age 18-30 years and have passed the retention period of three months. Angular measurements to measure the upper incisor inclination angle used Maxillary Plane reference plane. Mandibular plane was used to measure the angle of lower insicor inclination. Horizontal Reference Plane (HRP) and Vertical Reference Plane (VRP) were used to measure the changes of A and B points. The changes of A and B points before and after treatments and between after treatment and after three months retention phases were analyzed by paired t-test. The effect of insicor inclination change towards the changes of A and B points after treatment with Begg technique fixed appliance and after three months retention phase were analyzed by product moment Pearson correlation test and regresion. The results of the study showed that there were changes A and B points after treatment (p A point =0,00 and p B point =0,00). There was an influence of changes in incisor inclination to the change A point after treatment (r = 0,711 and p = 0.0004). There was change in A point (p = 0,0003) but there was no change in B point after three-month retention phase. There is no change in inclination inisisivus influence on the change point A (p=0,245) and there is no influence of lower incisor inclination changes to point B after three-month retention phase (p=0,580).
