- Background: The maternal mortality rate is one of the main indicators of health status of a country, which can also indicate the ability and quality of health care, health service capacity, quality education and community knowledge. Based on the profile Purworejo District Health Office in 2007 as many as 217 maternal deaths per 100,000 living, in 2008, as many as 164 per 100,000 living, and in 2009 as many as 109 per 100,000 living. This situation illustrates the presence of serious problems that require the handling of government Purworejo. Therefore, the authors are interested in examining the factors relatedto the performance of midwives in antenatal care in Purworejo. Objectives: To analyze the performance of midwives in antenatal care and factors related to the performance midwives in Purworejo. Methods: This study is an analytical research with cross sectional design, subjects of this study is the midwives who served in Purworejo. The number of midwives as many as 60 people. The data collected by the total sampling. Research Results: The results shows there is a significant relationship between feedback, motivation and incentive motivation, environment and tools, the performance of midwives in antenatal care while the dominant factor associated with the performance of midwivesin antenatal care is supervision/feedback. Conclusion: To improve the performance of midwives in antenatalcare is to increase the function of supervision and guidance to the midwife on a regular basis Purworejo and also improve the abilityand skills of midwives so in accordance with the standards of competence expected.
