- A low-cost and automatic data acquisition system based on microcontroller has been developed for measuring optical parameter of polymer-based gas sensor. In this case, the optical parameter was represented by the output voltage of a photodiode. For this purpose, the polymer-based gas sensor was fabricated by depositing the polymer based on Poly(3,4-ethylene thiophene): poly(styrene sulfonate) or PEDOT:PSS on glass substrates with various treatments. The National Instrument Data Acquisition (NI DAQ) BNC-2110 has been used to calibrate the system. Validation results showed that the accuracy of the DAS MA16 was very high with -0,6% of measurement error. The DAS MA-16 has measurement range of 0 - 4.96 volts with tolerance/accuracy level of ± 0.005 volts and sensitivity of 4.5 V/Î1⁄4W. In order to examine the performance of the data acquisition system, PEDOT:PSS-based gas sensors have been employed as devices under test with ammonia gas. It has been found that the voltages measured by the NI DAQ BNC-2110 were produced very well by the developed data acquisition system.
