- The purpose of this quasi-experiment study was to determinethe effect of home visit on the abilities of clients and their families intaking care of the family member with mental problem in Banaran village,Galur, Kulon Progo. The sample of this research were patients who hadmental problem and their families. The sampling technique used in thisresearch was a random sampling technique taken from 11 clients whowere given four home visits in a month. The data were analyzed usingpaired t-test. After the patients were given the home visit, the researchersmeasured the respondents' abilities. The result showed that there wasan effect of home visits on the client's ability (p=0.000) and there wasno effect of home visit on the family ability in taking care the patients(p=0.480).Keywords: effect, home visit, family and patients ability
