- The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of takingthe role as a storyteller in elderly towards their depression level in thevillage of Notoprajan, Ngampilan, Yogyakarta. This study is a quasiexperimental design. The technique used to take the sample was arandom sample of the some 15 elderly who were given the role asstorytellers in front of 5-10 years old elementary school children for 60minutes. The level of depression measured before and after performingthe role as storytellers. The data was analyzed using T-test Paired. Theresults of the data analysis showed that there was a relationship betweenbecome a storyteller and depression level on elderly (P value 0.000).Keywords: role of storyteller, depression, elderly
