- The purpose of this correlational analytic study was todetermine the association between nurse’s knowledge of intravenoustherapy and the incidence of phlebitis and comfort of the patients. Thesamples of the study were 65 nurses who work in inpatient wards and65 patients who received intravenous therapy by nurses. Data analysisusing Chi-square showed that there is a significant association betweenknowledge of nurses about intravenous therapy and incidence of phlebitis(p<0.01), and there is a significant association between knowledge ofnurses and patients’ comfort (p < 0.01). It is recommended for nurses toimprove knowledge and skills so that the intravenous therapycomplications and discomfort can be prevented.Keywords: knowledge, phlebitis, comfort, intravenous therapy
