- Library has long been known as a non profit organization in which it is not supposed to raise any income to support its services. However, facing the fact that most library need financial support to proceed some activities that are not covered by government funding, library needs to generate its own income to act more freely. In this article, the author offers a modern business strategy to carry out the library. She suggests that library need to apply a marketing strategy to publicize its services to the community. While introducing it with the history of marketing in the library context, she also elaborates in more detail the scope of services in the library that can be marketed and raise a profit. Emphasizing on the term of not for profit, however, she affirms that the profits earned should be used to support library services or collection development, not for personal income.
