The object is teasing utterances in comedy movie manuscripts entitled Cinderella Story, Legally Blonde, and Juno. The data are sentences which are showing teasing utterances.&#xD; The writer uses descriptive qualitative research. Techniques of data collection used by the writer are observations and non-participant documentations by selecting teasing utterances, which can be found in comedy movie manuscripts entitled Cinderella Story, Legally Blonde, and Juno. In clarifying the implicatures of teasing utterances, the writer applies theory of context situation by Hymes and the cooperative principle by Grice&#x2019;s maxims. To describe the politeness strategies, the writer applies politeness theory by Brown and Levinson.&#xD; Having analyzed the data, the writer finds that, first there are 11 implicatures of teasing utterances based on Hymes and supports by Grice&#x2019;s maxims theory. They are 2 asserting, 2 expressing anger, 1 expressing dislike, 1 expressing surprise, 4 expressing disbelief, 2 suggesting, 6 mocking, 6 teasing, 1 threatening, 1 asking, and 4 refusal. The maxims theory that used are Follow the Maxim of Quality (7), Follow the Maxim of Relevance (1), Follow the Maxim of Clarity (1), Follow the Maxim of Quantity (1), Violates Maxim of Clarity (6), Violates Maxim of Quality (11), and Violates Maxim of Quantity (3). Second, by employing theory of politeness by Brown and Levinson, there are 3 types of politeness strategies used in teasing utterances in comedy movie manuscripts. They are bald on record strategy (26,7 %), positive politeness (16,7 %), and off-record strategy (56,7 %).
