- The major problem of this study is to examine how Forrest Gump as the main character of Robert Zemeckis’ film Forrest Gump copes with his life problems based on individual psychological approach. The research is conducted by using qualitative method. The writer uses two data sources namely primary and secondary data source. The primary data is the movie itself. The secondary data sources are the other sources related to the analysis like some books and internet. The method of the data collection is library research. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. The result of the research is as follows. First, Robert Zemeckis as the director of Forrest Gump movie wants to deliver a message that one’s physical weakness should not prevent one from achieving a successful life. Second, the individual psychological analysis shows that Forrest Gump represents a psychological phenomenon illustrating an individual who attempts to cope with his problems of life, despite the physical imperfection
