- This research paper is intended to 1) analyze the method implemented in teaching vocabulary at junior high school students of SLB-B Ngadirojo Wonogiri, 2) describe problems appear from the implementation of the method of teaching vocabulary at SLB-B Ngadirojo Wonogiri. This research is descriptive qualitative which does not include any calculation or statistic procedure. The researcher takes junior high school students in 2008/2009 academic year consisting of five (5) students as the subject of her research and uses a descriptive qualitative method. Method of collecting data involves observation (non-participant observation) and interview. The data are taken from the subject of this research in the form of field note, interview, and document. The result of the study shows that 1) the method used in teaching English vocabulary for children with hearing impairment in junior high school of SLB-B Ngadirojo Wonogiri is eclectic method. There are reasons why the method is implemented; they are effective to make the students easy to receive the lesson, and make teaching English vocabulary easier, 2) the activity done in teaching-learning process are; direct instruction, drilling, out-door activity, and translation, 3) the objective of teaching English in order the students realize and know that there is any other language beside Indonesia language that they know before, 4) the material given to children with hearing impairment in junior high school makes the students easy in receiving the lesson 5) there are some problems that appear from the implementation of the method, such as; the students are still passive, and the activity is time consuming
