  • This research aims to find out reading skill enhancement of group B students of Elmafaza kindergarten Ketandan Klaten in the academic year of 2016/2017 using word cards. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this research are students of group B of Elmafaza kindergarten Ketandan Klaten in the age of 5-6 years old. This research is conducted using two cycles done within four meetings. The procedure consists of four stages including action planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The data of students reading skill and teaching and learning process using word cards are collected by observing, interviewing, documenting and field noting. This research uses triangulation to collect data from various sources. Based on the result of cycle I and cycle II, it shows that there is reading skill enhancement of group B students of Elfamaza kindergarten Ketandan Klaten in the academic year of 2016/2017. Before performing the cycles, the students result reaches 40.85%, followed by reaching 60.41% in the cycle I, and 80.41% in the cycle II. It can be concluded that word cards can enhance reading skill of group B students of Elfamaza kindergarten Ketandan Klaten in the academic year of 2016/2017.
