  • The iron levels that exceed the water quality standard can cause sanitary health problems. The clay wellness grade belonging to the citizens of Ngampilan Village, exceeds the threshold value, with iron content of 3.00 mg / l. One method of water treatment for lowering iron content is by processing zeolite-sand filter using contact time. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of contact time using zeolite-sand filter in lowering the iron water content. This type of research is true experiment with pretest-posttest with control group. The research population is all well water RT 08 RW 02 Village Ngampilan. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Statistical analysis using one-way anova test with p value value 0,000, which means there is difference of effectiveness of variation of contact time using zeolite-sand filter in lowering iron content of well water. Further tests using Post Hoch Test LSD to determine the most effective time to decrease iron content are known that treatment II (contact time 13 minutes) has a positive mean difference (IJ) which means having a higher value than treatment I (10 minutes contact time) And treatment II (contact time 17 min), where contact time 13 min is the most effective time to decrease iron content with effectiveness equal to 87,86% can decrease iron content to 0,35 mg / l.
