- This research aims to analyze the ability of mathematical representations of class VII students of SMP Negeri 2 Baki in resolving the problem set. Mathematical representation of ability is the ability of the students in expressing ideas of mathematics can be diagrams, tables, charts, mathematical symbols, mathematical models, words, and so forth as a tool to solve problems. This research is focused on the ability of visual representation, a representation of mathematical expression or equation, and the representation of the word or written text in resolving the problem set. Research using qualitative approach to techniques of data collection in the form of observation, tests, interviews and documentation. Analysis techniques of data analysis techniques used was according to Miles and Huberman through data reduction stage, the presentation of data, and the withdrawal of the conclusion. The results showed that: (1) the capability of representation of students on top of the KKM has (a) the ability of the visual representation of the students already either in resolving the problem set, (b) the ability of a mathematical equation or expression of representation of students is quite good, and (c) the capability epresentation of words or written text students are still lacking. (2) the ability of representation of students under the KKM has (a) the ability of the visual representation of the students already either in resolving the problem set, (b) the ability of mathematical expressions or equations representation students are still classified as less good, and (c) the capability of representation of words or written text students are still lacking.Keyword: the set, the resentation of a mathematical expression, the representation of the word, the visual representation
