  • The presence of children with schizophrenic is often considered harmful due to the existing stigma in society. This makes parents become less supportive in children’s rehabilitation, and express intense emotions toward the children on daily living. This research seeks to improve parents’ social support through SFT to recover children’s quality of life with schizophrenic. Subjects of this research were the parents of children with schizophrenic. This research was a quasi-experimental design research, using pretest-posttest control group design, which divided subjects into experimental group and control group. Subjects were given pretest, posttest, and Social Support Scale adapted from ISEL (Cohen & Hoberman, 1983) as follow up. The children were given SQLS, along with interview and observation. Experimental group was given Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) to discover the effectiveness of social support. Improvement in social support had significant influence on children’s quality of life after subjects undergoing the therapy. Results of this research showed some improvements in social support of parents after undergoing SFT. In conclusion, SFT was found to be effective in improving social support of the parents of children with schizophrenic. Improvements in social support, particularly in self-esteem support and belonging support also proved to influence the quality of life of children with schizophrenic.
