  • Purpose of the research is to know tensile strength, bending and acoustic impedance of pineapple fiber composite at volume fraction of (40%, 50%, and 60%). The composite is made by using mold press method. The composite is made from pineapple fiber and sengon sawdust with polyester resin of Yukalac 157 BQTN – EX and MEKPO catalyst, and volume fraction variation of 40%, 50%, 60%. Press mold was used to make the composite. The composite was tested according to ASTM D 638-02 standard. ASTM D790-02 for tensile strength and ANSI S1-13 for acoustic impedance test. Results of the research indicated that average tensile strength at volume fraction of 60% was 34.680 MPa and lowest result at fraction of 40% was 27.189 MPa. The highest averaged elasticity modulus was found at volume fraction of 60%, namely 46.240 MPa and, the lowest one was at fraction volume of 40%, namely 45.315 MPa. Results of tensile strength testing were: the highest averaged tensile strength of 57.504 MPa was found at fraction of 60% and the lowest one of 39.166 MPa was found at fraction of 40%. Results of acoustic impedance with spon were: the highest results were found at volume fraction of 50%, namely 62.06 dB and the lowest one was found at fraction of 60%, namely 61.89 dB. Then, results without spon found the highest at fraction of 50%, 62.07 dB and the lowest was found at fraction of 40%, 61.81 dB Key words: Tensile strength, bending test, acoustic impedance
