  • The aim of research is to identify student difficulties in solving rectangle and to describe the use of SOLO taxonomy to identify student difficulties in solving the rectangle. This type of research is qualitative research. The time of this research made is in the even semester 2015/2016. The subject of this research are students of SMP Negeri 2 Colomadu. The technique of collecting data are test, interview and documentation. The technique of data analysis is using three-step methods. The validity of the data using triangulation techniques and resources. The result of this research states (1) Unistructural difficulties stage of the difficulty in understanding the question of what is known, calculating mixed operations (multiplication and subtraction), and the minus of early math skills such as do not understand about solving algebraic problem; (2) Multistructural difficulties stages of the difficulty in resolving questions that problem solving so that students have not able to connecting with quadrangle problem; (3) Relational difficulties stage of the difficulty in understanding and differentiate the perimeter and area of the square as well as the formula; (4) Extended abstract difficulties stage of the difficulty in counting large numbers and interpret questions in a more complex problem.
