- The aims of this research to describe about the psychological dynamics of hardiness at single parent and factors that affect the hardiness. The research used qualitative approach, data collection used interview and observation technique which used event sampling method. Informants in this research chosen purposive sampling, four the mother with the status of single parent, have children and live with his son and have a job, while supporters to informants is the people close to the primary informants and understand her life, They are chosen in-law, brother and children. Data were analyzed using a categorization theme. The result of this research found that dynamics of psychological hardiness at single parent of divorce and single parent whose husband died have experienced the differences in the early phase. Single parent of divorce begins with the comitment, while in single parent whose husband died will begin with the self control, after self control and comitment, they had same phase, that is a challenge, hope to children and take the lesson of events that happened. The interesting finding of the research is the spirituality dimensions of submissions, patient and gratitude. The spirituality dimensions has been stronger of hardiness at single parent. Factors that would affect hardiness at single parent is the farewell causes, family and social support, academic motivation of the children and employment status.
