Analisis Hasil Uji Cup Drawing Dan Kemampuan Tarik Tailor Welded Blanks (TWB) Menggunakan Sambungan Las Titik Dengan Variasi Ketebalan Plat

- The objective of the study is to know the tension ability of a Tailor Welded Blanks (TWB) using weld joint with spot welding type on the plate thickness variation that is different with the results of tensile shear strength test and to know the possibility of failure or defect after the cup drawing process. The research is used base metal of mild steel different types that is plate A thickness 0,7 mm and plate B thickness 1,5 mm as well as TWB plate thickness variation of 0,7 mm with 0,7 mm (plate A + plate A), 0,7 mm with 1,5 mm (plate A + plate B), 1,5 mm with 1,5 mm (plate B + plate B) . Welding process used spot welding with current parameter of 8 kA, weld time of 0,4 seconds, welding time of 5 seconds. The specimen testing are tension test, shear test, and cup drawing test. The standart test used ASTM E8 for tension test raw materials and AWS 8.9-97 for shear test of weld joint. The results of testing shows that shear strength on different variations of the welding connection plate thickness between 11,64 N/mm2 to 19,74 N/mm2, while at the raw material plate is shown the highest tension strength on raw material plate B thickness 1,5 mm is 20.02 N/mm2 and the lowest tension strength on raw material plate B thickness 0,7 mm is 13,38 N/mm2. The third variation of the joining welded with different plates are nothing that shown the failure of weld joint during the test of cup drawing and the result it close to perfect drawing with disabilities wrinkling on the overlap area.
