  • Interpersonal Communication Between Physical Therapist And Patient (Qualitative Descriptive Study of Interpersonal Communication Physiotherapist for Motivating Patients Stroke Disease Orthopaedic Hospital Surakarta) Krisna Ardhi Wicaksono Communication Studies Program, Faculty of Communication and Informatics University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta 2016 Stroke is a disease that can hamper the communication process. Physiotherapist as medical personnel, in addition to be able to provide treatment for stroke patient, should also be able to provide motivation to the patient. The interaction between the physiotherapist with patients will speed the healing process, because it will give more emotional support and motivation for the patient. The motivation here is intended so that the patient can live independent and productive back. Because usually after a stroke, patients may have difficulty doing things that were previously simple.The subjects in this study is a physiotherapist and stroke patients, both outpatient and inpatient. The aim of this research is to determine the interpersonal communication that exists between physiotherapista and stroke patients. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method performed interactively and in-depth data analysis Miles and Huberman.The results showed that stroke patients are motivated to recover for their effective communication of the physiotherapist. The process of communication is built using dialogic communication process. There are also factors that support the patients to recover, such as environmental, empathy, physiotherapist support, family and incentive or token of appreciation.
