Daftar Isi:
- The Internet in Indonesia is growing fast. Despite the slow internet speed, the number of internet users is quite high. Along with the development of the internet, online shopping is increasing and becoming a trend, particularly among students. Online shopping makes shopping easier, but it leads to consumptive behavior. One of the factors that influences consumptive behavior is self-control. Self-control is the individual ability to prevent oneself from impulse or desire that does not fit the social norms. Individuals with high self-control are usually better than the ones having lower self-control. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a correlation between self-control and consumptive behavior. The proposed hypothesis is that there is a negative correlation between self-control and consumptive behavior. The subjects in this study were 70 female students, while the population in this study was all students of Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The data were collected using self-control and consumptive behavior scale. Then, the data were analyzed using moment product correlation. The analysis of this research shows that there is a significant negative correlation between self-control and consumptive behavior. Self control plays 35.9% role, which means that there is 64% of other variables that influence consumptive behavior, namely variables that are derived from cultural, social and personal factors.
