- The purpose of this research is to describe the students’ mathematics thinking style in problem solving. The type of this research is included in qualitative research. The time of this research made is in the even semester 2015/2016. The subject of this research are teachers and students of SMP Negeri 1 Kunduran. The technique of collecting data are observation, test, and interview. The technique of data analysis is using three-step methods. The validity of the data is using triangulation source and method. The result of this research states (1) Students have the analytically thinking style in problem solving especially superficial side of geometry is likely to solve with the formula by changing into mathematical sentence, that is due to the small capabilty of students in drawing; (2) students that have the visual thinking style in problem solving especially superficial side of geometry that tends to use pictures first becuase they like drawing instead of memorizing the formulas; (3) students that have the integrated thinking style can problem solving of superificial side of geometry by using both ways either using pictures or memorizing formulas. However, students tend to use formulas first and then describing clearly the pictures.
