- Cherry leaves contains flavonoids that showed antioxidant activity with IC50 at 22 μg/mL. Fast Disintegrating Tablet preparations are formulated to quickly disintegrate in order to ease the administration and absorption. The aim of study was to know the effect in the use of Explotab disintegrating agent in combination with amylum filler in Fast Disintegrating Tablet preparation of cherry leaves extract and to obtain an optimum formulation. Wet granulation was used in the formulation method. Explotab and amylum concentration ratio used were F1 (14 mg : 17,5 mg); F2 (28 mg : 17,5 mg); F3 (14 mg : 70 mg); and F4 (28 mg : 70 mg). Design expert software was used in optimizing the physical properties of the granules and tablets. One-sample t-Test with 95 % level of confidence used to analyze and verify the predicted result generated by factorial design. The optimum Fast Disintegrating Tablet formula gained from the combination of Explotab 22,55 mg and amylum 61,78 mg. Explotab-amylum combination increases the flow rate, tapping index, hardness, friability, and improves taste however reduces the weight uniformity, disintegration time, and oral dissolution time. The result from verification using one-sample t-test showed insignificant difference in flow rate, disintegration time, and oral dissolution time, while in tapping index, hardness, friability, and taste response test showed a significant result.
